The Department of English and Drama will be holding a conference on eighteenth-century verse in Professor Bill Overton’s memory on September 18-19, with an Alumni event on the second day.
Professor Overton, who was Professor of Literary Studies and worked in the Department for 36 years, died in early September last year after a period of illness. The conference will focus on the area of study that particularly interested him. If you are interested in attending the conference, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for details about how to register.
The afternoon of the second day is dedicated to an alumni gathering to celebrate Professor Overton’s life at Loughborough. All past students, colleagues, and friends of Bill’s are very welcome to attend. For information about the event on the afternoon of September 19 email Billmemories@lboro.ac.uk.
The organisers would also like to invite anyone that has any photos of Professor Overton, which they are happy to have included in a display, to send them to the above address.
The conference will also see the launch of the Bill Overton Poetry Prize; an award which will ensure that Professor Overton’s passion for poetry will continue to inspire and involve future generations.
